An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an evolving company within the Utilities sector. CLC Utility Service Limited are part of the CNJ Management Group and provide leading and complete installation, repair, maintenance and reinstatement services to the utility sector. This role is for a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor (QS) with specific expertise in NEC forms of contract. The successful applicant will be based at our Brentwood Offices but will be expected to attend other local offices in our catchment area.
As QS you will be responsible for providing commercial support and guidance on project(s), ensuring that all commercial aspects of the project are delivered in accordance with the plan and budget on a project by project basis, this will require dedicated team working with other likeminded staff. The role will also require the need for specific NEC contractual knowledge and application to ensure contractual specifications and deadlines are adhered to.
NEC 3 experience is mandatory and the applicant must have an understanding of Consultant’s obligations and contractual processes, interpreting a contract, knowledge of risk and opportunities
Prepare quotations and applications, CE or EWN events and provide effective reporting and forecasting of the commercial performance of a project to the business.
Where necessary, import and co-ordinate / manage cost control procedures to ensure projects are delivered on budget;
Ensure changes are managed rigorously with a focus on commercial implications of change, manage commercial risk and opportunity generally.
Ensure that programmes and delivery schedules are monitored and managed, explore opportunities for early delivery and assist in mitigation measures when delivery is delayed;
Apply contractual mechanisms, preparation or review of CE quotations and manage / assist negotiation to agreement;
Input to Risk Register and assessment of risk allowance in financial reporting, review of any risk registers periodically and ensure risk (value) and likelihood of occurrence are in balance;
Undertake regular programme and cost reconciliation
Utilise key CLC systems such as; SAGE, Construct and Job management
Work within the strict deadlines required under the contracts
Support with monthly and/or weekly P&L data to support the commercial team
Support the commercial team raising Purchase Orders and validating Supplier/ Subcontractor Payments
Conduct audit checks on suppliers; ensure they are contractually compliant and are generating value for money.
Provide commercial support as required and directed
The Ideal Candidate:
NEC 3 qualified.
Demonstrable Commercial acumen
Analytical numerical skills
Data analysis and trending skills
Highly organised and self motivated with strong attention to detail (create written/edit documents and run spread sheets)
Experience of using MS Office, including: Outlook – email and diary management, Excel – create and edit spread-sheets, Word – create and edit detailed documents
