Principal Engineer – Product Security (Cyber Security Analyst)
Do you have any working knowledge of the cyber security and information assurance marketplace, including products, suppliers and key threats with an understanding of the direction of potential future technologies for submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer – Product Security (Cyber Security) at our site in either Frimley, Weymouth or Filton.
As a Principal Engineer – Product Security (Cyber Security Analyst), you will be a focal point for security and information risk matters and will apply your deep level of subject matter expertise and experience to ensure that submarine systems and products are delivered and can be managed and supported through-life. You will be supporting the appropriate Delegated Technical Authority (dTA) and/or Design Authority (DA) to ensure the delivered solutions meet the specified contractual and regulatory requirements and can be operated securely, correctly and safely. You will also provide subject matter expertise and advice to other functional and capability areas to support overall project delivery and performance.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer – Product Security (Cyber Security Analyst) will involve:
Providing advice on Product Security matters for programmes to Engineering Managers and Technical Authorities as required.
Contributing to the development and maintenance of Product Security strategies, policies, guidance and awareness
Ensuring that Product Security analysis of a project, system or equipment, is delivered and is managed using recognised risk analysis techniques with cyber security analysis
Influencing senior stakeholders on information risk management strategies, policies and practices
Gaining sufficient understanding of a system, its concept of use and architectures in order to provide an accurate assessment of a product security in terms of possible threats and potential avenues of attack
Ensuring that Product Security analysis work is fully documented, enabling maintenance of the security status through life.
Presenting risks and proposed controls to internal and external stakeholders, to achieve agreement and buy-in
Being able to plan and manage work concurrently across multiple security work programmes.
Providing regular updates on project status/progress in accordance with project specific reporting cycles
Representing the Product Security group at Design Reviews, to ensure that Product Security is appropriately considered at each stage of the design lifecycle
Undertaking peer reviews as directed.
Providing technical guidance and supervision to other Product Security engineers and support the management and planning of specialist activities.
Your skills and qualifications:
Degree in computer science or cyber security
Have a strong awareness of Product Safety and SHE.
Knowledge of Product Security activities in the defence, maritime or closely linked domain and have a comprehensive understanding of how potential threats will be managed and the potential impact on the platform and systems
Knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle with some experience of operating in a number of phases
Good communication skills and be able to interact with stakeholders
Provides technical leadership, coaches and mentors others. May lead a team of engineers
CISSP, CISM qualifications
