Our client is a renewable energy company that has a technology which converts solid waste materials to gas which is then used to generate power and heat. The company has a partnership with Yorkshire Water to operate a plant in Huddersfield which uses its technology.
This plant has been shut down since 2018 but is now being restarted and a new operational team is being recruited.
Full responsibility for the plant Operations and Maintenance will be assigned to our client in October but the company has been contracted to prepare the plant for operational hand over during the period July to September. The company is looking for a candidate to join initially on a contract basis with a view to a transition to permanent employment in October.
As a key member of the Operations Team, you will be responsible for the day to day management of plant operations, ensuring optimum levels of performance are achieved and sustained in accordance with strict process health and safety procedures.
Key Job Activities:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, your role will focus on the effective coordination and use of onsite resources, staff and subcontractors to deliver a site commissioning plant in accordance with it planned schedule, whilst promoting a positive team working culture. Specifically, this will involve: The supervision and allocation of site personnel, including the oversight of staff training and associated plant administration, along with the scheduling and supervision of contractors Organising planned maintenance activities in conjunction with the Plant Manager and Plant Technicians, and as directed by the Technical Director and Process Safety advisors.
This is a hands-on supervisory role, ideally suited to an experienced operator, preferably from an allied process plant background with an understanding of waste related legislation, who can demonstrate: A good level of technical expertise and significant engineering experience in a similar environment, including the ability/willingness to undertake running repairs
Preferably NVQ or equivalent in Electrical Engineering ideally supported by some commercial electrical experience and a 11th Edition certificate. Proven leadership qualities, first rate communication skills and a strong customer focus, coupled with plenty of initiative, a positive outlook and the ability to work without supervision A good level of IT/PC Literacy, especially in relation to Microsoft Office packages/applications.
