We are looking to bring on board an experienced mobile Mechanical Engineer to join our team, covering the Cumbria region. You will be employed on work that is appropriate to your core and specialist skills. You will, however, be expected to have and acquire elements of other skills which will enable them to work flexibly across trades.
Suitable training may be given when required to ensure that they will be competent to achieve the skills and ability where required to perform the following (as detailed in responsibilities).
You’ll be mobile covering Cumbria including: Carlisle, Workington and Penrith.
Key duties, though not exhaustive, are listed below;
Provide a reactive and pro-active maintenance service as per project requirements to all operational equipment
Provide a multi-skilled maintenance service, which covers electrical and mechanical disciplines
Carry out modifications and installations when required
Liaise with contractors or external suppliers where required and clearly communicate technical issues
Perform general plumbing and drainage services to both plant equipment and building equipment
Provide a service that ensures all key performance indicators are met
Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance
Take ownership of tools and equipment provided and ensure they are maintained to an appropriate standard, reporting any defects immediately
Provide technical support/input to projects and initiatives
Provide plumbing services to ensure the operation of all the water systems on site. This includes hot and cold water supplies and drainage
Responsible for ensuring own work and work of those under supervision is completed in a safe and diligent manner to ensure regular feedback on issues arising before, during and following activities that are carried out
Maintain equipment supported by sound diagnostic and problem solving skills and raising issues as required to the shift supervisor on a timely basis
Complete any required paperwork on a timely basis
Complete training and development activities as required in order to remain competent in role
Complete other duties as required and directed by the shift Maintenance Supervisor or members of the Management Team
Flexibility in work hours to provide cover if required for holidays and sickness absence
Knowledge Skills & Experience
Minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in relevant engineering maintenance field
Appropriate up to date training to make use of relevant equipment/tools
Up to date knowledge of technical regulations applicable to core craft and how this applies to role
Good understanding of current Health & Safety legislation and its application within role
Fault diagnosis and resolution
Experience in installing and maintaining mechanical equipment
Able to read and understand technical drawings
Good problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions (where able to do so)
Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written communication
Ability to use effectively any ICT equipment provided
Ability to complete work as instructed
Ability to effectively prioritise own workload
Flexibility and adaptability to change
Pro-active and positive approach to work
Experience and capability to provide maintenance service in mechanical disciplines
Ability to provide a schedule of works for identified additional/remedial works
Writing and following risk and method statements as required on a daily basis
Good knowledge of building statutory building compliance.
Presented in a clean and tidy manner to represent the company, in the most professional manner possible, utilising the uniform and PPE issued
Responsible for self and others to maintain a safe working environment as per the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and subsequent UK and EU amendments
HSE management in accordance with our (Interserve) Quality Management System and all legal and statutory requirements
Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work order progress in a timely manner
