Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS) aims to improve the outcomes of Scotland’s children and young people. We recruit, train and support volunteer Panel Members, who make legal decisions in children’s hearings, and Area Support Team members, who provide support and guidance to those Panel Members locally. We currently have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and experienced HR and OD professional to join our national team of circa 45 employees. We seek someone who has had significant HR generalist experience working in a “hands-on” environment, along with OD and change management experience and who may be looking to take the next step into an autonomous role, using their skills, experience and maturity to take on a broad HR and OD remit.
Reporting to the Head of Strategy & Development and DCEO, you will be responsible for the full operational HR remit. Using a coaching and capacity building approach, you will be the key source of advice and guidance for CHS managers on all HR issues. You will be a chartered member of the CIPD and have the relevant degree-level CIPD accredited qualification. You will be able to demonstrate HR experience in a similar role and have a proven ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level. Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, workforce planning, policy and strategy development, as well as employee relations and change management are essential requirements of the role. Experience of working within a public sector context where you have applied your sound working knowledge of equality legislation would be particularly advantageous for this role, as would experience of leading and managing teams and projects.
As we are going through an exciting period of transformational change, you will also need to possess good knowledge and understanding as well as operational experience of leading OD projects and implementing cultural change.
It is important you can demonstrate an ability to work closely with senior leaders of the business as well as all levels of staff, and you should have a demonstrable record of accomplishment of improving and delivering HR services that make a real difference and produce meaningful results.
