The Scottish Police Authority is the national oversight and scrutiny body for Policing in Scotland.
Following organisational transformation, the Scottish Police Authority is seeking an individual to undertake the role of Governance Support Officer.
The purpose of this role is to contribute to the delivery of the Authority’s Strategic Outcomes by providing a comprehensive secretariat support service to the Chair and Authority Members, its committees, sub-committees and working groups, supporting open and transparent scrutiny and decision making.
The role will involve leading pre-agenda planning meetings with Members, SPA Officers, senior officers from Police Scotland and Forensic Services to ensure a balance and a focus on scrutiny and decision-making; providing guidance on standing orders, code of conduct, Committee terms of reference and procedures; preparing clear and concise briefing notes for each Committee/sub-Committee; Assessing feedback to develop and review compliance processes and procedures for the effective management of Authority business and relaying the decisions and requests of the Authority and its committees and sub-committees.
The successful individual will need to develop relationships across the Scottish Police Authority, Police Scotland, Scottish Government and other key stakeholders using communication skills and interpersonal skills to ensure delivery of priorities, tasks and actions.
You will be educated to HND level with relevant transferrable experience of supporting Boards / Committees within a public authority or large organisation or in the absence of a qualification you will have extensive experience of working in a similar environment, influencing stakeholders and organising public meetings.
This full time post is permanent and requires Standard Recruitment Vetting. You will work 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday 0.

Following the introduction of a new pay and reward model on 01 April 2019 some grading outcomes may be subject to change on conclusion of the job evaluation appeals process.
